Aches and pains...

Aches and pains pretty well sums it up.

On Friday after work we went back to the chiropractor. Laura met with Dr. Treva, who examined her and decided that one of the discs in her back is wearing out. Or something like that - I'm not entirely sure, because I haven't had the years of training that Laura's had. Maybe she'll mention it in her journal. Anyway, we went from there to Blockbuster (and rented The Medallion) and to Georgie Porgies for dinner. Home again, where we watched the movie and went to bed. The Medallion was okay - not great, a little campy in places, but did have Jackie Chan fighting badguys in a not-as-goofy way. Rather than fight a bunch of guys with a ladder and a chair and a horseshoe on a rope, he jumped in, beat a guy up, and jumped to the next guy. Not as many gimmicky fights, which made him more like Bruce Lee or one of the other martial arts movie stars from the past. He can really *fight*, really.

On Saturday, I got up early(ish), did my Matt Furey, and took the futon to the storage locker. While there, I cleaned and rearranged and stacked and moved the contents. It's now much cleaner and more organized, and the piles of boxes aren't leaning over. Went home and worked on my XP computer (which consisted of taking it apart, running some tests, putting it back together, and getting it back to where it was; let it run for six hours to generate the error messages; followed instructions from Microsoft and various forums; let it run for six hours and it's still not working right. End result: I'm going to reformat it) and cleaning the apartment. Laura declared that she wouldn't be able to sit on the lawn for the three or four hours of Figaro, so I called my mom to tell her we couldn't make it. Worked some more around the apartment, went to Blockbuster to rent PCU and Dude, Where's My Car (neither of which Laura had seen) and to the grocery store for food for the rest of the weekend. Home again to watch movies and go to bed early. PCU is a favorite of mine, though I couldn't tell you why - "pre-frosh" attends college for the weekend. Featuring Jeremy Piven and George Clinton (of P-Funk). Dude isn't a favorite, but it's been recommended to Laura by a few people we know.

Sunday, I got up early(ish) again and went to my Mom's house to pick up a check (and snake the bathtub drain, and fix the speakers in the kitchen, and ogle her new camera). Laura talked to Tamara, who will make a period dress for her, and did things around the apartment. (The dress will be period Elizabethan, and will match whichever doublet we decide will look best.) Went to fighter's practice, where I fought Valerius, Magnus, Jean, and Alice (Alice wasn't wearing armor, so I used the boffer sword on her). Today I'm pretty sore, but pleased with the three or four hours I put in. Laura came with me to practice, and did drills with Cad and Valerius. (Nothing too strenuous, 'cause her back and stuff.) Then we went to Fuddrucker's to celebrate Father's Day, and home again where I lounged in front of the TV ("La Femme Musketeer" and "Zoolander") and Laura looked for trim for her dress. I also talked to Kaptain Karl, who is doing well and is getting married. After a late-night run to the storage locker for Ben's suitcase, we went to bed.

Tonight, we drive to Canada for Ben's graduation. It'll be just like the weekend, except that my Blackberry will ring the whole time and it won't be a weekend. Whee!
